December 31 - Psalm 46

It is really hard to remember in the midst of destruction, whatever that means personally, that God is our fortress. He is the solid ground that does not move in the midst of the earthquake. He is the hiding place when the monster is looking for us. He is the storm cellar when the tornado is raging above. He is the high ground when the tsunami is drowning everything in its path and he is the levy that does not break when the hurricane beats against it.

How does that work, what are the steps to take in those cases to get to our fortress, to feel the protection? One hint in this chapter is this...“Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!” Psalm 46:10 (ESV)

2 Chronicles 20:17 says to stand firm and to look.
Cross references: Psalm 145:18; Deuteronomy 4:7  - I think a study of God being our fortress is in order.
