So here we have it, the steps to sin.
- You permit the lie bearer to have an audience with you
- You listen to the lie
- Then you justify in your head why it is okay
Leave the presence of a fool, for there you do not meet words of knowledge.
The wisdom of the prudent is to discern his way, but the folly of fools is deceiving. Proverbs 14:7-8 (ESV)
The discerning sets his face toward wisdom, but the eyes of a fool are on the ends of the earth. Proverbs 17:24 (ESV)
You therefore, beloved, knowing this beforehand, take care that you are not carried away with the error of lawless people and lose your own stability. 2 Peter 3:17 (ESV)
Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

When man fell he became at odds with God. He lost his "forever" relationship with God, he lost living with Him eternally. He could not eat from the tree of good and evil but he apparently ate from the tree of everlasting life. So death entered the world and the relationship with God was changed.
