Our country is good but its not the promised land…
Remembering is good, celebrating is fun, being grateful is important! But having an eternal hope is the GREAT!
What makes us righteous? Faith and faith alone. But more importantly, it is in whom we put our faith. The faith we put in the God of the bible is the same faith that Abraham had. That faith was counted as righteousness to him and saved him. He believed that God was able to do what He had promised - despite all outward signs. He believed that he and his offspring would inherit the promised land.
No distrust made him waver concerning the promise of God, but he grew strong in his faith as he gave glory to God, fully convinced that God was able to do what he had promised. That is why his faith was “counted to him as righteousness.”
Romans 4:20-22
What has God promised to us, that if we believe, is counted as righteousness to us?
John 5:24
But now that faith has come, we are no longer under a guardian, for in Christ Jesus you are all sons of God, through faith. For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is no male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus. And if you are Christ’s, then you are Abraham’s offspring, heirs according to promise.
Galatians 3:25-29
...our promise is the same as Abraham's offspring. We shall inherit the land. The spiritual promise land...eternal life with God.
This lovely land is not my home. Note to self, “I must desire a better country, that is, a heavenly one.” Oh that I might remember.
