September 20, 2010 2 Chronicles 26- He was marvelously helped…

You'd think we'd get it by now...follow God, good, unfaithful to God, bad. This chapter is just one more example to the world at that time and to believers now that God takes care of His people and He is ALL powerful to end it all.

"But when he was strong, he grew proud, to his destruction. For he was unfaithful to the LORD his God and entered the temple of the LORD to burn incense on the altar of incense." 2 Chronicles 26:16 (ESV) – That is proud, to think that he was the same status as the priests to do their job. He disregarded the system that God had laid out as if to say, “I am above the system.” Wow! I do that every time I am unfaithful to God or bypass His guidelines.

a little side note here, “… In Jerusalem he made engines, invented by skillful men, to be on the towers and the corners, to shoot arrows and great stones. And his fame spread far, for he was marvelously helped, till he was strong.” 2 Chronicles 26:14-15 (ESV)

This is the first time I remember these kind of weapons being mentioned in the bible. There are references to siege works but those were platforms where men could stand and shoot arrows from. This is actual "engines" that did the work.

I love how it says, "he was marvelously helped"

There are some real blessings when you work at the beach…

We got to swim with these beauties one day on a break. They had been there all day and I thought I was not going to get to go out. But they stayed around and God even brought them in close. It was one of those gifts that you are sure is from above…I wasn’t supposed to work that day.
