1 Kings 11 and more on Fear – from the angle of peace…

1 Kings 11-David's heart was wholly true to God.  Even though he sinned that was said of him by God.

Think of that...To me that means, David only worshipped God and acknowledged God as the one true God. Solomon worshiped the gods of his wives; literally worshiped and built altars and sacrificed to them. He was not a true believer. It is not sin that proves that, but who you worship...

When I am fearful, there is no peace in my heart and sometimes that comes out in my actions as angry behavior. Peace in the bible is not lack of wars or fighting, it is a state of being right with God and the feeling you get from that. Jesus is our peace between us and God. He gives us peace in our heart if we trust Him and it is delivered via the the bible in most cases. In hearing the promises and Words of God. That is where we learn of His attributes and so us how is is worthy to be trusted.

The lack of peace is this:

Lamentations 3:17 (ESV)
…my soul is bereft of peace; I have forgotten what happiness is…

Peace comes from these things:

Psalms 119:165 (ESV)
Great peace have those who love your law; nothing can make them stumble.  (The law is the Word of God for us.)

Isaiah 26:3 (ESV)
You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you.

It is all about FOCUS.
